niki wilcox 2018 02

"I moved to Nevada from Orlando, FL in 2004. I was a stay at home mom and attended WNC and University of Nevada Reno and then began working for the State for about seven years. However, I always wanted to be in the beauty industry.  After a long, hard day at work, I began questioning myself as to why I hadn’t followed my dreams.  I knew I didn’t want to be at a desk job for the rest of my life and I wasn’t happy within my career anymore. My husband and I had a long conversation that evening and he told me to follow my heart and go for it! So I did!  I enrolled at Microblading LA to become a certified microblading artist.  I chose this school because I wanted the best training I could possibly get and I knew I would get it there.  Lindsey Ta is the owner/founder of Microblading LA and is the 2016 world of microblading champion.  I love every aspect of the beauty industry but chose to start my career off with microblading because I am a strong believer that brows are one the most important features of the face. I am also a certified Makeup Artist and Permanent Makeup Artist and am continuing to further my education in the beauty industry. The more opportunities that arise, the more excited I become!"

Karissawithdog Karissa Martindale got started in the beauty industry when a friend offered mentorship in exchange for looking after her clients when she went on maternity leave.  Little did her friend realize just how much Karissa would fall in love with doing nails!  She is a perfectionist with an artist’s touch, who is committed to the health of her clients’ nails.  Karissa grew up in Southern California in a big family who helped her develop into the caring, detail-oriented person she is today.  Shortly after graduating high school she moved to Gardnerville and now calls Lake Tahoe home.clarisaworks

Doug Bourne is a long time Lake Tahoe Resident and business owner.

When Doug and Valorie first opened the salon, his plan was to just be a business partner, not a hair stylist.

As time went on, however, Doug got the bug to be more than just an administrator. It all started one night after work when Valorie and Doug were closing the salon and Valorie asked Doug if he would be comfortable enough with the tricky hoses on the shampoo bowl to wash her hair.

As Doug had seen her do it a million times, he successfully washed her hair, and wrapped a warm towel around her head as he had seen her do with all her clients. He led her back to the chair where he put in products and did a round brush blow out. Valorie was so comfortable with how well he was doing with her, she completely forgot that this was his first time giving a salon to service to someone. For Doug, it felt so natural. This resulted in a conversation on how he needed to become a stylist.

dougcutsThe next day, he phoned a beauty academy and enrolled. While his very first day was April 1st, this new venture was no joke, but actually the start of a passion Doug didn’t know he had. The passion hasn’t stopped and everyday Doug assists his clients with all their cosmetology needs, from hair to skin care to shellac pedicures. He truly loves working with his clients and seeing the joy in their face when they see the finished product.
